This Bonita hilltop estate had the kind of sweeping mountain views that deserved an equally impressive backyard — and the homeowner had a clear vision: a fully functional private golf short game area that felt like a real course, not a residential add-on. The challenge was building it at scale while managing drainage and grade across the curved, open lot.
We designed and installed a multi-element golf landscape from the ground up — a large contoured putting green with multiple flag positions, a shaped sand trap bunker, and a dedicated chipping area to create a genuine short game practice environment. A curved concrete border edge wraps the perimeter of the entire installation, giving the space a clean, defined boundary while managing the transition between the playing surface and the surrounding landscape. A drainage system was built throughout the subsurface, and 2x2 paver stepping stones were laid in a grid pattern through the surrounding turf to provide structured access paths across the space without disrupting the playing surface.
The finished result is one of the most complete private golf setups in the area — a purpose-built backyard that functions as a full short game course with the Bonita hills as the backdrop. Every element, from the sand trap to the step pavers, was installed with precision and built to perform for years.
