This Chula Vista hilltop property had the kind of panoramic view that deserved a backyard to match — but the space wasn't designed to take advantage of it. The homeowner wanted a fully built-out entertainment area with distinct zones for lounging, gathering, and taking in the scenery, all tied together with premium materials and zero-maintenance surfaces.
We laid a large-format charcoal paver field as the main foundation, with a flush-inset drain to manage water flow across the elevated pad. An upper-level platform was built up with warm-tone pavers to create a natural step-up transition, anchored by a gas fire pit and surrounded by Adirondack seating — the perfect vantage point overlooking the open valley below. A turf grid section was installed along the perimeter, with large pavers set in a clean checkerboard pattern through the turf for a bold, architectural detail. A retaining wall runs the back of the property with low shrub plantings, topped by a sleek black aluminum view fence that frames the landscape without blocking a single inch of the horizon.
